A major process in the school system is interaction. Messages concerning expectations, power relations, and attitudes toward others and the learning process are passed on through verbal and non-verbal cues. The daily student-teacher interactions and interpersonal relations determine the atmosphere of the classroom. It is important to consider that between 300 and 600 interactions take place in one hour of class time. Consider also that for every spoken message there are several unspoken messages given through tone, gesture, and facial expressions. Those unspoken messages can tell us more about the climate of the classroom than any spoken words. The interaction between the teacher and the student affect largely students' performance and learning.

The interactions in the classroom are very important because they allow for a richer educational environment. Interactions are not limited to teacher-student interactions, however their should be also student-student interactions which are very important for the teacher to allow because sometimes the students better understand from their friends. Also the teacher should monitor the interactions of the students in order to see whether the students are understanding or not; these interactions could be verbal and non-verbal.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely true that interactions are the most important actions that take place and must take place in the classroom, and it is very essential that the teacher encourages these interactions and teach students how to interact actively. Interactions in class increases students' self confidence and help them improve their language and their skills. Also the teacher must be able to read the hidden messages that the shy students send through their facial expressions and body language since many teachers don't pay attention to that.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the messages we send through our interaction are powerful. We give students an impression of how much we appreciate their thoughts, their abilities, and their personalities. Teachers should control their impressions and messages when communicating with students. It is important to know that our students are influenced by our comments and words.
